This paddle was humbly named after the first person to order an Owens Ocean Sports blade. Holm Shmidt, originally from East Germany, is an accomplished paddler and coach who has trained many world-class paddlers and promotes the sport by training paddlers at all skill levels. The Schmidt is the perfect blend of form and function. A traditional wood paddle is improved by adding an epoxy dihedral to provide a clean catch and powerful pull. Unlike most solid wood paddles, the Schmidt has a fluted shaft that merges into an ergonomic grip (one of Holm’s favorite features!).
